Greetings from The Upside Down

Well hello there 👋

This is Tim, one of the Admins from the Family Style Discord server speaking/typing/projecting at you.

I've gone by many names since becoming involved with this community but the one that has stuck around the most has been 'Uncle Tim' so feel free to call me that if you want. It's not weird at all.

Don't worry, I'm more along the lines of the fun, cool, cheeky and loveable Uncles as opposed to the creepy Uncle who wants you to sit on their lap and make you guess what they've had for breakfast while they sniff your hair. I promised people that I would cut out that behaviour.

So what's with the 'Upside Down' in the heading? Well it's not a Stranger Things reference. Well actually, it sort of is in a way.
I'm from Australia, Down Under, The Land of Oz, or as has been referred to on the Discord, 'The Upside Down' given that most of the members so far have been from the northern hemisphere.

The whole thing started out as a prank I played on Heather, who is one of the Moderators on the Discord and starred in the very first episode of The Family Style Podcast that was recently released, where I used a text generator to start typing upside down. When she called it out I feigned ignorance and told her she was imagining it. She then proceeded to send me screenshots while having a minor conniption and I eventually came back to her that I must have accidentally disabled my southern hemisphere converter on my phone and that would be why my text was appearing upside down to her as she is in the northern hemisphere.

Hook, line and sinker Ladies, Gentlemen and Non-Binary folk. It was delicious to watch!

So since that occasion there has been a long running gag where I'll occasionally write upside down or post gifs upside down or we'll joke about laying on our backs, standing on our heads etc. Heather's dog Moxxi is an Australian breed so she has been pulled into the joke too.

The thing about us Aussies is that we are a nation of smart arses. Sarcasm and swearing are a part of our national identity and it's something every single one of us leans into with gusto. It's been said many times that if an Aussie isn't taking the piss out of you then that means they don't like you.
I'm no exception to this!

So welcome one and all to the Family Style Network, where we really are one big giant happy and inclusive family. The good vibes and the love are all real and it's a beautiful thing!

You'll see more of me popping up on here, on the podcasts and definitely on the Discord. I'll always be talking some sort of random shit so I totally expect that this will be the loose theme of any of my output.
